How to clean personal devices from malware (viruses)

This guide is applicable only to Parents and Students with their personal home PC or Macs.

For AIS Devices there is no need to install any anti-virus software.
All AIS-owned devices are protected by a Cloud IT-managed anti-virus tool.

If you think that your AIS-owned device is infected, please do not follow this guide and contact IT Department immediately.

This guide contains instructions about virus removal for personal, home-used PC and Mac computers.

Please do not download the software described below on any school-owned devices.

For Mac instructions, please scroll down.

For PC:

1. Download and launch Dr.Web Cure IT (Free for personal use) from here: https://free.drweb.com/download+cureit+free/?lng=en

2. After launch click on the big button: “Start Scanning”

3. Scanning will begin shortly.

4. After the scan is completed, if threats are found click “Neutralize”

5. Your PC will reboot automatically if no threats are found.

For MAC:

1. Please download Malwarebytes from https://www.malwarebytes.com/mac-download/

2. Launch the downloaded file and install Malwarebytes

Please note, that you will need Administrator permissions to install Malwarebytes.

After installation

3. Open Malwarebytes. In the opened window, click Get Started and then pick Personal computer

(If you installing it on your own, personal computer. For AIS-owned computers installation of anti-virus software is strictly prohibited)

4. To scan your Mac for viruses click the "Scan" button:

5. You will be notified if threats are found and what actions have been made.
